African Swine Fever Continues to Spread in Germany
USAgNet - 12/06/2021

African swine fever continues to spread beyond containment areas in Germany. Last week, the country confirmed a case in a wild boar in the Poland-bordering state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

This brings the total number of wild boar cases to 2,800 and the first case in this state. This news comes days after a confirmation of ASF in a finishing pig site, where more than 4,000 pigs had to be euthanized.

As ASF continues to spread across the globe, U.S. pork producers are reminded they can prepare for a potential foreign animal disease (FAD) outbreak by taking biosecurity steps.
