USAgNet - 04/20/2017

Another two farm credit institutions have been given the blessing of its stockholders to merge together. On Wednesday, AgCountry Farm Credit Services and United FCS announced they will join forces under the name AgCountry Farm Credit Services, effective July 1.

Company officials say the move brings together two Farm Credit organizations serving Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin--where collectively they will serve nearly 18,000 customer-members with approximately $7.2 billion in assets.

"We believed from the beginning that the culture, values, and vision of both cooperatives made this a natural fit," said United FCS Board Chair Brad Sunderland. "We would like to thank the stockholders from both organizations for their participation in the voting process and recognizing that this merger will help us better serve agriculture and rural America."

United FCS serves a 22-county service area in West Central Minnesota and North Central Wisconsin, while AgCountry operates in 18 counties in eastern North Dakota and 25 counties in northwest and west central Minnesota.

Once the merger takes place, the new organization will cover farmers in 65 counties through 38 offices within the three-state region. Its headquarters will be located in Fargo, North Dakota.

Meanwhile, July 1 is also the day that Badgerland Financial, AgStar Financial Services and 1st Farm Credit Services will complete its merger under the name Compeer Financial. That organization will be based in Prairie Du Sac.
