Indiana Ag Connection - 02/21/2024

Indiana Grown, the local marketing initiative by the Indiana State Department of Agriculture, is set to host a comprehensive symposium on March 19, 2024, at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds. The day-long event aims to provide educational seminars, networking opportunities, and industry insights for Indiana Grown members, agritourism operators, and food-based businesses.

Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, Indiana’s Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development, expressed the significance of the symposium as a valuable resource for those involved in agriculture and agritourism. The event covers a diverse range of topics, including social media, farm finances, employee management, succession planning, event planning, zoning, insurance, distributor relationships, product pricing, and more.

New to 2024, the symposium is open to all businesses, regardless of Indiana Grown membership, making it an inclusive opportunity for small agribusinesses, those interested in marketing expertise, and agritourism operations seeking to enhance on-farm attractions and guest experiences.

The symposium will feature expert speakers from various fields, including Lt. Governor Crouch, Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development, Don Lamb, ISDA Director, Suzi Spahr, NAFDMA, Krista Stillwell, Stillwell + Co, Terry & Courtney Engstrand of White Oaks Bison Farm, and representatives from Purdue University, the Indiana Board of Animal Health, Indiana Department of Health, and more.

Caroline Patrick, Indiana Grown Director, expressed excitement about gathering members for continued learning and networking. The symposium presents a unique opportunity for Hoosier businesses to connect, learn, and explore the resources offered by the Indiana Grown program.
