Learn About Dragonflies, Damselflies at Bug Fest
Indiana Ag Connection - 06/24/2016

Nature lovers of all ages can attend a special lecture at Bloomington Bug Fest on June 25 to learn about the quirky, beautiful and fascinating insects known as dragonflies and damselflies.

Thomas Swinford, assistant director and ecologist for the DNR Division of Nature Preserves, will present "Dragons in the Sky" from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Bug Fest is at Hilltop Garden & Nature Center, 2367 E. 10th St., on Indiana University's campus.

Bug Fest is a day-long celebration of insects and their relatives. The mission of Bug Fest is to educate the public about insect and spider biology. Activities will include crafts, mealworm races, cricket spitting, insect games, storytelling and more. A display of student art with an insect theme is also planned.

Admission is free. A donation of canned fruits or vegetables will go to the Hoosier Hills Food Bank and Mother Hubbard's Cupboard. Donation bins will be available at the entrance to Bug Fest.
