Treetop Outpost Open July 1 at Conner Prairie
Indiana Ag Connection - 06/29/2016

At Treetop Outpost, people will be amazed by the new 45-foot-tall treehouse that features four-stories of interactive fun. People can begin their adventure by hopping across the 30-foot suspension bridge where they'll discover the main level, including a panoramic view of the woods. Then, climb your way to the upper levels to try your hand at tying different types of knots, running flags to the main deck and interacting with miniature boxes that feature artists and naturalists with ties to Indiana.

The Treetop Outpost is at Conner Prairie, 13400 Allisonville Rd., Fishers. Conner Prairie is one of the largest attractions in the region and one of the most visited outdoor museums in the country. It has a long history of innovation that spans the fields of science, history, art, and nature. On its grounds, every guest has the opportunity to pursue fun and knowledge in a way that is tailored to them.

At the very top of the Outpost, visiotrs can peer through a powerful telescope for a chance to see birds or other animals. If you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, visit the bottom level and relax in repurposed seats from Bush Stadium while thumbing through various books.

The massive treehouse isn't the only thing to explore in this 6000-square-foot destination.

-- Dig in at our recreated archaeological site where you'll find Native American and pioneer artifacts.

-- Get in touch with your creative side by making music with our marimba and drums, or create a piece of art inspired by nature.

-- Try your hand at building a shelter out of wood, bamboo and fabric, just like Hoosiers of the past used to do.

Funding for the Treetop Outpost project came from Ruth Lilly Philanthropic Foundation, Estridge Family Foundation, Conner Prairie Alliance, Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust, The Robert and Joy Elzer Family, The Hagerman Group, Ball Brothers Foundation, Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation, Charles and Jenny Schalliol, Dr. and Mrs. James E. Shields, Ruddell Trust, and The Indianapolis Garden Club.
