Few Campsites Available for Holiday Weekend
Indiana Ag Connection - 06/30/2016

Those looking to celebrate Independence Day weekend in the great outdoors can still find a few available campsites at DNR properties.

At state park campgrounds across Indiana, all electric and full hook-up campsites are booked, except at Charlestown State Park, which had several electric sites available as of Tuesday afternoon.

There are some available primitive and non-electric campsites scattered at state parks and state recreation areas throughout Indiana.

A three-night minimum is required for July 1, 2 and 3.

Campsite reservations can be made at Camp.IN.Gov (available 24 hours) or by calling 1-866-6CAMPIN (1-866-622-6746) between noon and 8 p.m.

Public fireworks shows for all park visitors will be offered at the following sites:

--On Thursday at Indiana Dunes State Park.

--On Friday at Versailles State Park.

--On Saturday at Pokagon State Park, Raccoon State Recreation Area on Cecil M. Harden Lake and Newton-Stewart State Recreation Area on Patoka Lake.

Fireworks shows start at dusk. Personal fireworks are prohibited at Indiana State Parks.

If you're looking for a road trip but not sure where to go, find property maps and facility information at StateParks.IN.gov. Many new features are ready to enhance your experience no matter when or where you visit.

If you can't fit camping into your Independence Day weekend plans, don't miss out on Labor Day or any other time this summer. Cabins and campsites are still available for many weekends, including Labor Day weekend, but will go quickly.

Campers must follow DNR's rule on firewood. For more information, visit firewood.dnr.IN.gov.
