Pokagon Sand Sculpture Demo, Contest, July 30-31
Indiana Ag Connection - 07/27/2016

Pokagon State Park will host a sand sculpture demonstration on the park's main beach on July 30-31.

The Michigan Sand Sculptors, a group of families that vacations in the park every summer, will create sand art this weekend, weather permitting. Several sculptures will represent Indiana State Parks' 100th birthday, Indiana nature and the state's bicentennial.

The public is invited to create sand art elsewhere on the beach and participate in a sand castle contest. The contest runs from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Potawatomi Inn has donated prizes ranging from discounts in its gift shop to free night stays.

The beach is open sunrise to sunset. The bathhouse and concession stand are open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Entry to the beach is free.

This event is free after paying the standard entrance fee of $7 per in-state vehicle or $9 per out-of-state vehicle.
