Stargazing at Summit Lake SP July 29

See the moon, Jupiter, Saturn and distant star clusters through telescopes during a stargazing event at Summit Lake State Park on July 29.

Astronomy enthusiasts Steve and Debbie Russel are the event hosts. Stargazing will begin at sunset at the end of campground Loop A. Once the sky turns dark, the moon, Jupiter and Saturn will be visible. After twilight ends, more distant star clusters will become visible.

Telescopes will be available for viewing as well as binoculars. Visitors should avoid using white flashlights or cell phones during stargazing.

The event is free after paying the standard gate fee of $7 per in-state vehicle and $9 per out-of-state vehicle.
