Indiana Ag Connection - 08/25/2016

See World War II uniforms and weapons, tour a re-created Japanese trench, and watch a battle re-enactment at Fort Harrison State Park on Aug. 27 and 28.

The event, which will focus on World War II Pacific Theater history, is sponsored by the Museum of 20th Century Warfare. It runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

On both days, a Japanese trench walk will take place at 11 a.m. in the park's Camp Glenn area, and a battle re-enactment will take place at 2 p.m. in the Millennium Grove picnic area.

Visitors can listen to a Pacific War presentation on Aug. 27 and a presentation on the Invasion of Tarawa on Aug. 28. Both presentations take place at 12:30 p.m. at the visitors center.

Located inside Fort Harrison State Park, The Museum of 20th Century Warfare is a volunteer-run, non-profit museum dedicated to honoring veterans through service and education.

Fort Harrison was a military training facility throughout World War II and also housed POWs.

The event is free after paying the standard entrance fee of $7 per in-state vehicle or $9 per out-of-state vehicle.

For more information, call the visitors center between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at (317) 591-0122.
