Indiana Ag Connection - 03/15/2010

Sandusky dairy farmer Leonard Brown was recently elected to serve a three-year term on the Michigan Milk Producers Association board of directors. Brown will represent MMPA members in Sanilac and Huron counties.

As a member of the 13-member board, Brown will help guide the direction of the 2,200 member dairy cooperative. He was elected to the board position at the MMPA District 8 meeting held in Bad Axe, Mich.

This is Brown's first appointment to the MMPA board of directors. He is succeeding Deanna Stamp, who retired from the board this year. Brown has also served on the MMPA Advisory Committee and as a treasurer/secretary for the Sandusky Local. He has served as the Elmer Township Supervisor for the past 20 years.

Brown is in partnership with his brother, William, at Brown Brothers Dairy where they milk 110 cows and farm 900 acres. Leonard and his wife Barbara represented MMPA as District 8 OYDC in 1987. The Browns have three children: Melissa, Mike and Brady.

MMPA is a member owned and operated dairy cooperative serving over 2,200 dairy farmers in Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio and Indiana.
